Invitation for New Local Plan workshop on climate change policies

New Local Plan climate change policies

A major driver in upgrading our building stock to Energy Performance Certificate B by 2035 is by setting ambitious and enforceable planning policies. Colleagues in the planning policy team are looking for feedback and ideas on how you think our policies can achieve better, more sustainable developments. This includes:

  • New developments and existing buildings
  • Reducing ‘hidden’ emissions, like all the energy we use outside of heating/lighting/cooking, or the energy used in making and transporting our construction materials
  • Please join one of two virtual engagement events on Tuesday 8th December (they will cover the same topic). We will be joining as well, and we will specifically talk about addressing climate change in buildings. Please click on the links below to sign up on the Eventbrite page:

  • Afternoon session: Tuesday 8th December at 13:00 – 14:30
  • Evening session: Tuesday 8th December 18:00 – 19:30
  • To find out more and provide written feedback, visit the Local Plan climate emergency and sustainable transport page . Other events will also be organised about Biodiversity and Open Spaces (14th January 2021) and Transport (18th January 2021), please visit their page on virtual engagement events .

Do you have any more feedback on the Draft Climate Change Action Plan?

Of course, don’t forget to come back to the draft Climate Change Action Plan webpages if you haven’t commented on everything yet. Do you have any ideas of low-carbon projects that could take place in your area? Have you tried the carbon priority simulator yet?

We look forward to hearing from you!
